Online Marriage and Relationship Counseling
Work on your marriage from anywhere
Facing relationship obstacles alone can be challenging. Navigating logistics such as location and scheduling may make it difficult for you to focus on your marriage or intimate relationship. New technologies have made couples therapy more convenient so you can get the support you need to help your relationship thrive. I now offer online counseling so you can work on your marriage or relationship from anywhere.
Benefits of online marriage and relationship counseling
Whether you and your partner lead busy lives or you’re in a long-distance relationship, there are many benefits to online relationship and marriage counseling. Benefits include:
- You and your partner can be in two different locations and call in from the privacy of your home or office.
- Finding childcare is no longer an issue.
- Travel, meetings, or other physical limitations are no longer obstacles to working on your relationship.
Of course, the biggest benefit of online counseling is that it can strengthen your relationship and set you up for long-term success.
What online counseling can help with
Ongoing online counseling sessions can help you strengthen your bond, increase trust, and resolve gridlock situations. Even more complicated issues such as infidelity can be addressed using teletherapy.
Working on your relationship will positively affect your immediate and extended family. It can even help with other issues like anxiety, depression, anger, and sexual problems that may impact your relationship.
How online therapy works
Online marriage and relationship therapy is virtually the same as in-office counseling. Our initial session focuses on understanding the cycle you are in and creating strategies to de-escalate via Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
EFT was initially started by Dr. Sue Johnson. It focuses on the idea that there’s a connection between human emotions and primary attachment developed in childhood that manifests itself in adult relationships. Research shows that EFT is highly effective and that the majority of people who use it experience remarkable improvement in their relationships.
In addition to EFT, I introduce the Gottman Method, which includes having you and your partner complete an online assessment. The Gottman Relationship Checkup is designed as a tool for clinicians. This research-based assessment tool for therapists helps me understand the strengths and challenges of your relationship and determine a suitable treatment plan.
